Cancelling Your Plan

How to cancel your DottSign subscription, what happens to your data and how to reactivate.

Before You Cancel

If you're having a specific issue, we'd love the chance to help before you go. Common reasons people consider cancelling, and what we can do:

If you'd still like to cancel, here's how.


How to Cancel Your Subscription

  1. Log in and go to Settings → Billing
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  3. Click Cancel subscription
  4. You'll be asked to confirm the cancellation and optionally share a reason
  5. Click Confirm cancellation

What Happens After You Cancel?

Immediately:

  • Your subscription is marked as cancelled
  • You receive a confirmation email

Until your current billing period ends:

  • You retain full access to your current plan's features, nothing changes
  • You can still send contracts, access files, and manage your team until the period ends

When the period ends:

  • Your account is downgraded to the Free plan
  • Active contracts above the Free plan limit (5) become read-only, you can view and download them, but cannot send new ones until you're within limits
  • Team members above the Free plan limit (1 user) will lose access to the account

Your Data Is Not Deleted

DottSign does not delete your contracts, signed documents, or account when you cancel. Everything is preserved.

  • All completed contracts remain accessible and downloadable
  • All pending contracts stay visible but no new contracts can be sent beyond Free plan limits
  • Your account settings, profile, and team remain intact

If you decide to reactivate later, you'll pick up right where you left off.


Downloading Your Data Before Cancelling

We recommend downloading your signed contracts before cancelling, just to have local copies:

  1. Go to Contracts → Completed
  2. Click a contract to open it
  3. Click Download PDF to save the signed version

Reactivating After Cancellation

To reactivate a cancelled subscription:

  1. Log in to your account (it's still there)
  2. Go to Settings → Billing
  3. Click Reactivate or Choose a plan
  4. Select your plan and complete payment

Your account, history, and data are immediately restored. Reactivation takes effect immediately, no waiting period.


Deleting Your Account Entirely

Cancelling a subscription is different from deleting your account. If you'd like all your data permanently deleted:

  1. Go to Settings → Account
  2. Scroll to Danger zone
  3. Click Delete account
  4. Confirm with your password

This is irreversible. All contracts, signed documents, account data, and team access are permanently removed. This action cannot be undone.

If you have signed contracts that represent legal commitments, we strongly recommend downloading them before deleting your account.
